Food is truly the life blood of living on the street. Nothing is better than a full belly. That is why we make it our mission to provide meals to the homeless on a regular basis. Our outreach travels directly to where the homeless are in groups. Typically by local shelters or parks. We like to make sure that our meals are nutritious and also packed with energy and don’t leave them with a stomach ache. We try to provide food, snack and drink. We also like to make sure that we can give a little extra for them to have after we leave. There is never too much food when you are homeless!
The cost of a meal is between $2-$4 per person on average and inner city areas are packed with hundreds of homeless so it can be a very costly to provide meals knowing that within hours those same people will be hungry again. We understand this though and try to provide at least one of those meals a few times a week. Typically twice during the week and once on the weekend.
Because we have to be budget conscious there will be times in between where we will have snack runs where we may provide healthy granola bars and water to quench a bit of hunger and thirst for a fraction of the cost.
Our facility off of US 19 in Clearwater gives us a place where we can prepare meals to keep the cost of the outreach down giving us the ability to give more to more people. We always want to make sure that when we go out to deliver a meal that no one is left out and everyone has plenty for that time.
We are always looking for volunteers for our food outreach. If you would like to help please emails us at firstname.lastname@example.org
